A Different Kind of Beginning
Hello, I’m Helen Nelson, the voice behind Govegansa.
If you had asked me a few years ago whether I would end up running a product review blog, I probably would have laughed and gone back to blending another smoothie or testing a new plant-based recipe in my kitchen. For most of my adult life, my world revolved around food, particularly the kind that focuses on simple ingredients and thoughtful choices.
The name of this site carries a quiet echo of that past. Long before it became a review blog, the domain was connected to conversations about plant-based living and everyday wellness. That environment shaped the way I think about products today. Whether something sits on a kitchen counter, a home workspace, or a travel bag, I’ve always believed that the items we choose should actually make life easier, healthier, or simply more enjoyable.

My Path Into This World
I studied nutrition and community health in college, which eventually led me to work in small wellness cafés and local food spaces. For several years I managed a neighborhood juice and smoothie bar where we experimented with plant-based ingredients, tested kitchen equipment daily, and constantly searched for tools that could handle real-world use.
That job taught me something surprisingly valuable. Behind every simple drink or meal was a long chain of decisions about blenders, storage containers, cookware, packaging tools, and dozens of other everyday products. Some worked beautifully. Others broke after a week.
I became the person who researched everything before buying it.
Friends started asking me what juicer to buy, which storage jars lasted longest, or whether a certain gadget was worth the money. Before long, I realized I genuinely enjoyed comparing products, testing them, and explaining the results in plain language.
Where Life Is Now
These days I live in a quiet suburban neighborhood outside Portland, where mornings usually start with coffee, a short walk, and a notebook full of ideas. My kitchen is still my testing ground, but the scope of what I review has expanded far beyond food tools.
Over the years I’ve developed a habit of paying attention to the small details most people only notice after they’ve already bought something. Does the design actually make sense? Does the product last longer than the marketing promises? Does it make everyday tasks easier, or just add clutter?
Those questions guide almost everything I write.
Why This Blog Exists
In 2026, I decided to turn that habit into something more useful. That decision became Govegansa as it exists today.
This blog is where I share honest product reviews, practical comparisons, and real-world buying insights. I approach every product the same way I did back when I was running a busy kitchen: by asking whether it genuinely solves a problem or simply looks good in an advertisement.
Some products impress me. Others don’t. Either way, the goal is always the same – helping readers make smarter choices before spending their money.
If you enjoy thoughtful reviews, practical advice, and straightforward opinions from someone who actually enjoys testing everyday products, you’ll probably feel right at home here.
And if nothing else, you’ll know that every recommendation comes from someone who has spent years learning the hard way which products truly deserve space in your life.
